TI-84 Calculator Rules for SAT, ACT and AP Exams

Check again before test day. Testing-provider policies can change. This page is a study guide, not an authorization to use this website or any particular device during an exam.

SAT

Current SAT Suite policy allows approved non-CAS handheld calculators and provides built-in Desmos calculator tools in Bluebook during the Math section. Calculators with CAS functionality and other prohibited features are not allowed. A third-party calculator website should not be assumed to be permitted during the test.

ACT

ACT permits many 4-function, scientific and graphing calculators on the mathematics test unless the model or functionality is prohibited. CAS functionality is prohibited, and devices that store programs or documents may need required modifications under the current policy.

AP exams

AP calculator rules depend on the subject. College Board’s current AP policy lists TI-84 Plus and TI-84 Plus CE among approved graphing calculator families for applicable AP exams, while some AP exams restrict calculators or use different calculator types. Follow the policy for your specific exam.
